I'm Eight!!

Happy Birthday Moreah! from Beth Ritzman on Vimeo.

December 12th was my Eighth Birthday!

I got a horse to paint, and a loom to make a purse. I got a horse puzzle and a square puzzle. There was some art stuff and some clothes, a couple of dolls, and a bunch of money! Thank you for all the lovely presents and cards.

My Mommy hid my presents, and my sister, Onika gave me clues about where to find them. I found them all very easily. It was so fun!

We went to Carlos O'Kellys for dinner, we had fried ice cream for dessert. My Mommy and I went to a Movie, Enchanted, all by ourselves.

Narration on the Zoo

I like Monkeys because they start with the same letter as my name!

They live in the Zoo here in Fort Wayne.

They swing on trees and they hold onto things with their tails.

There was one monkey with no tail. But he could still climb without it.

They looked like Curious George. They were black and white, and they were pretty long and skinny.

I think there were maybe 10 Capuchin Monkeys on the island with a moat around it.

There were vines, trees, logs, and leaves on the island.

The Monkey with no tail saw a Robin in a tree. He climbed up the tree because the Robin was there. He chased the Robin out of the tree.

The Walking Banana

There once was a banana. It walked everywhere. Whenever someone saw it, the person would run away.
The banana was so big! Bigger than a big house!
The banana thought he would see the whole world. He decided to go to Africa. The people in Africa were so scared, they hid in the water and in their houses.
There was one person who did not hide. That person decided he should get a rock and sharpen it with a stick. Then he put it on the ground, the banana stepped on it.
And the person decided to make a banana pie!
The end.

My Reading Lesson

Today I practiced my reading to Mama. I sat in bed with her and read out loud to her.
I read lesson #27 from the Christian Eclectic Second Reader by William H. McGuffey.

****************************************************************
There was a land a great way off, which was called Sheba. A queen was the ruler of it. When she heard of the glory of Solomon, she took a long journey to see and to talk with him.
She came to Jerusalem, the city in which Solomon lived, with a very great train of servants, of camels that bore spices, and very much gold and precious stones.
That she might know whether he was as wise as had been said, she asked him a great many hard questions. He answered them all.
She paid particular attention to everything which she saw. She was very much struck with the number of his servants and the splendor of their garments - especially the beautiful temple which he had built for the worship of God. Her mind was full of admiration.
She said to the king, "It was a true report that I heard in my own land,of your sayings and of your wisdom. But I did not believe till I came and saw things as they really are - and behold, the half was not told to me. Your wisdom and prosperity are far above anything of which I have heard.
"Happy are your subjects! Happy are these servants, who stand continually before you and who hear your wisdom."
And she praised the great God for His goodness both to him and to his people: "Blessed be the Lord your God who delights in you, to set you on the throne of Israel, because the Lord loved Israel forever. Therefore He made you king, to do judgement and justice."
She made the king a large present of gold and a very great store of spices and of precious stones. The king also gave costly gifts to her. Then she went back to her own land and people.
It would be a great thing to be as fine and wise and rich and glorious as Solomon. Would it not?
Indeed it would. Yet we might have all these fine things and not be happy. Fine clothes and fine things cannot make the mind of anyone happy.
Solomon found that this was the case. We must have the favor of God and love and serve Him, or we shall never gain what we are seeking after.

Then I did the rest of my school day. You can look Here at my Mom's Blog to see what else I did in my school today.
I like reading my reading lessons. They are kind of old fashioned, but I learn lots of new words. If there is a word that does not follow the rules, or I just don't know it, Mama helps me sound it out.

Gram's Poem

Thank you!
I like that rainbow poem so much, it makes me think there's a rainbow really there.
It makes me so happy, I want to see you and hug you and kiss you. We would do so many things and have so much fun if I saw you.
From Moreah

(Mommy's note: This is Moreah's reply to Gram's poem left in the comments on Moreah's "About a Rainbow" post.)

In the ocean

The sea is so beautiful
I feel like I'm a mermaid when I'm in the water
Then I splash and play all over the sea
I like the sand and make sandcastles
It is fun and I like to watch the baby sea turtles
swimming, swimming in the water
They are so cute and I love to watch the ocean
Love,
Moreah

Story about a Girl & Horse

Once upon a time,
A girl wanted a horse, more than the ocean.
In her dreams, she dreamed about having alot of horses. She had one horse that was the most beautiful. It was golden with golden hair. She put sparkles on it, and it was more shiny than the sun.
She rode it with jewels on it's mane & tail. It was fun. She let all her friends ride her other horses, except the golden one.
Her friends said "that's a beautiful golden horse!" The girls said "Thank you! She was my first horse. When I got her, I was 4 years old. And my horse was 4 years old too. Right now we're both 15 years old. I give my horse alot of hay & apples for it's birthday. I also give her a new halter each year"

Swimming Lessons

I like my swimming lesson, because it's fun. We do swimming lessons in the summer. This summer I'm going to learn how to swim with my head over the water.
This summer we are going to play in the sprinkler and go to the park a lot. We haven't been to the park much because it was too cold. It's just turning summer and we are putting our winter clothes in plastic baskets under our bed.
